Aluminum foil is often used in the kitchen for wrapping and cooking, and when it comes to some common ailments and treating some health conditions. But recent study shows that we need to take some cautions into consideration when it comes to using aluminum foil in our kitchen.
Aluminum is heavy metal and strong neurotoxin. Very often Alzheimer’s diseases is related with this metal and it can cause side effects to the brain function.
Long exposure to this metal can cause long-last adverse effects like: loss of coordination, body control, balance, memory and mental decline.
This study shows that aluminum foil has great impact to the bones health. Aluminum particles builds up inside the bones and reduce the calcium levels, which make the bones weaker.
People who use aluminum foil in cooking have greater probability to be affected of pulmonary conditions like pulmonary fibrosis or problems with breathing as a result of inhalation of aluminum particles.
Maybe you are not aware of emission of aluminum particles, but exposed aluminum foil to high temperatures emits aluminum particles and it poisons the food.
According to the Dr. Essam Zubaidy, a chemical engineering researcher at the American University of Sharjah, food that is cooked with aluminum foil has up to 400mg of aluminum.
“The higher the temperature, the more the leaching. Foil is not suitable for cooking and is not suitable for using with vegetables like tomatoes, citrus juice or spices.”
According to the World Health Organization, the daily intake of aluminum is limited to 60mg.
